Bylaws
Purpose
i. The Most Holy Spinozist Church of Utter Sublimity exists to promote the study and understanding of Spinoza's ideas, encourage rational inquiry and self-improvement, and foster a sense of community among Spinozists. It is not at all a front to seize intellectual property through negotiation and, if necessary, blackmail, and then distribute it for free. If anything, our supreme goal is the spread of Amor Dei Intellectualis (hereafter referred to as ADI), showing how the existence and nature of all entities may be deduced from rational first principles.
Membership
ii. Membership is open to all humans, fluent Ithkuil speakers, animals, Vulcans and other aliens that are interested in Spinozism and the cultivation of ADI. Plants and fungi need a special exemption from His/Her High Holy Spinozisticity to become members. (See section iii.)
Titles
iii. The church shall be governed by the holder of the title His/Her High Holy Spinozisticity. The holder of this title must be deduced from first principles in rational dialogue among members after a prayer recalling the aspiration to cultivate ADI. Until the derivation is finalized, this title will be held by the part of Baruch Spinoza that, being conceived under the form of eternity by God, is eternal (Prop. XXIII). The member torco shall forever hold the title Knight of Espionage in addition to any other titles he may hold.
Sermon
iv. Sermon shall be preached once a week. The day of week is left open due to the founder (may he attain the blessed ADI) likely suffering from Manic Pixie Dream Brain.
Dues
v. Members must pay dues amounting to $2 USD at the close of each 500 year term. Funds will be used to maintain the website, organize dialogue and purchase books on Spinozist philosophy and sciences relating thereto. Any amount left over must be used to end science illiteracy.
Restitution following the inevitable Inquisition
vi. The church is considered dissolved the instant it perpetrates a Spanish Inquisition. All assets must be distributed equally to every sapient individual across the extended multiverse, spanning past, present and future.
